G4CIB and G4RHK on Lundy
May/June 2015

G4CIB & G4RHK on Lundy 30th May – 13th June 2015 or It wasn't supposed to happen like this!

2015 marks the 20th year of our holidaying on Lundy – and what better way to celebrate than with two weeks on the island, which we think of as almost our second home. We have once again managed to book "Stoneycroft", the cosy cottage situated close to the Old Light, with superb views across to the North Devon coast and which also has a convenient adjoining paddock where we can erect our HF dipole antenna.

The plan is to take the IC703 which has proved to be a versatile little rig particularly as it has an internal antenna matching unit. CW addicts will notice that the middle weekend of our holiday is HF National Field Day. Also the UK Six Metre Group's Summer Contest is on during the same weekend and with any luck there should be some Sporadic E to take advantage of. So we shouldn't be short of activity on the HF bands and 6 metres.

The usual routine during our weekdays on Lundy is to operate for a few hours in the morning from 0630 – 0830 and for a few hours later on on the afternoon 1600 – 1800. Obviously inclement weather may see extended periods of operating during the day!

Don't forget the "Lundy Old Light" trophy will be up for grabs and will be awarded to the club member who makes the most determined effort to contact us on Lundy. The current holder in Dan 2E0DWP who worked us during our Lundy 2014 stay not only from Cornwall whilst on holiday but also from his home QTH on a variety of HF and VHF bands.

Leta and I look forward to having a QSO with you whilst on Lundy.

Brian (G4CIB) and Leta (G4RHK)
